1 1/2 cups of almond flour, as measured 4 eggs, broken up and at room temperature 1/2 cup of sugar, broken up 1 tablespoon of chopped lemon zest from one big lemon 1/4 cup of nuts, cut up

Butter or grease a 9-inch cake pan or springform pan. Put a circle of parchment paper around the bottom. Warm the oven up to 350˺F. How to Make an Almond Cake Recipe:

Put 4 egg yolks and 1/2 cup of sugar in a large bowl. For three minutes, beat on high speed with an electric hand mixer until the mixture is thick, creamy, and lighter in color. With a spatula, fold and stir in 1 1/2 cups of almond flour and 1 tablespoon of lemon zest until they are all mixed in. Clean and dry the mixer's add-ons.

In a second big bowl, beat the egg whites together with the sugar until stiff peaks form. This should take about two minutes. One large spoonful of egg whites at a time should be folded into the almond batter. Each addition should only be folded in until it is all mixed in, and the batter should have an even consistency.

Once all the egg whites are mixed in and the batter is the same thickness (do not over-mix), put it in the baking pan that has been prepared and top it with 1/4 cup of sliced almonds. Put it in the oven at 350˺F for 30 minutes, or until the top is hard.

After 15 minutes, run a small spatula around the sides of the cake and flip it over onto your hand. Then, put the cake on the rack with the right side up. Once it's room temperature, you can decorate it with powdered sugar and lemon slices if you want to.
